I'm Red Soul, used to be quite a regular at RHDN, and at one point I served as an internal tester for Dynamic-Designs. We got some good patches out back then, I kinda miss those days.

Good to see the community coalescing here; I feel it is the way forward, to allow for continued growth since RHDN is now wilting.

While I have only Hues of Mana under my own belt, I hope to make more projects eventually, and share them here.

I'll give it a try some time. I'm definitely in favor of hacks that allow Luigi to shine.

You cannot slay a hydra, as they say. Cut a head off, and two will sprout from the mangled remains.

I'm glad this site got his blessing. While that isn't some sacramental rite of passage, the whole RHDN situation ended on an awkward note, to put it midly.

The fact NeoRHDN exists gives me some hope that people can actually come together and create meaningful positiveness.

Ah, Riichi. I suppose most people got its first contact with this game thanks to Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza. My story with this one is a bit different: it was an anime called Akagi that first made me aware of the game.

While I don't play often, I quite enjoy it, and there's much depth to be found. Anyway, thanks for the shares; I knew about Majsoul but not Riichi City and I'm interested to know how aggressive the gacha elements are, if there are any.

So many of those logos are cool. Maybe assign the unused ones to different site themes?

While I'm not a romhacker by trade and only dabbled with aspects of it, my prime motivation could be summed up as correcting what I perceive as poor game design. For instance, I find unreasonable encounter rates in RPGs to be infuriating.

I was actually working on patches to reduce them in Metal Max Returns (SNES) and had some interesting findings, but sadly lost my notes.

It was an early PS1 title wasn't it? along with Ridge Race, Cyber Sled and a few others. I only knew most of these from the demo disc that came with the console.

Either are down-to-earth, I think, but RC seems better overall I think. Though, in general, I think MS might be better for newer players for the sake of how much it tends to put the game into English versus what RC does. Even still, there really isn't a client between both of them where it does a lot of hand-holding: You will lose, you will get your ass kicked and you will look at things incorrectly for months at a time or longer trying to figure things out and neither really go too terribly in-depth on explaining themselves, due to the nature of the game.

I suppose in either case, a level of basic knowledge is expected from the player, which is not out of the ordinary when it comes to Riichi, I feel.

This is a very good selection of patches, though I personally think the double jump should be kept separate; it changes the game feel too much (the slide makes sense, however).

Also, if you are able, please correct the vertical origin of the buster shots - it is offset incorrectly and it's the kind of thing that is impossible to unsee, once noticed.

I see the "Neo" in NeoRomhacking similar to what Neo Tokyo is to Tokyo, a rebuild version of the once great city/community. It follows the same structure and logic and keeps the spirit the old community had, but with its own style and features. One could say its a Remake of RHDN. :D

RHDN Remake kind of has a nice ring to it, haha.

Always nice to see the N64 get some love. Too bad I'm bad at Puyo Puyo, hah.

I guess when having to cross reference so many series, characters and mechas, and then trying to create a half coherent reason for stuffing them all on the same game, drinking is probably a requirement.

Would it be better to have a separate translations request thread on something like this? Not that I ever expect anything like that to be done soon by any stretch of the imagination but there are a few things I wouldn't mind seeing in English as sort of a bucket list thing. I would wonder if that would be better suited for its own topic.

I agree with you, translations should have their own topic. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to see proper translations of the SNES versions of Romancing Saga 2 and 3.

The "remasters" circa 2017 are awful, in my opinion, and even though the Romancing Saga 2 got that cool remake, I'd like to be able to experience the originals without suffering through the ugly art direction of the remasters and the jerky movement with halved framerate.

I'm using Metro / "Windows 8 Style" (Nicole).

It is simple, readable and has a good font size so my eyes aren't strained.
That said, I'd like something similar, but with reds/oranges over blue, haha.

It is a very unique game, and I love it for it.

Some draw comparisons to poker and rummy on some levels and, while that is not inaccurate per se, I feel the requirements for proper play are much higher than either game.

I'll repeat my request here, then (glad this was moved):

I'd like proper translations for Romancing Saga 2 and 3 on the SNES.

The "remasters" we got based on Unity were just dreadful: despite the extra content, the performance is horrible (locked to 30 FPS with awful scrolling and graphical artifacting) and the horribly upscaled map graphics and untreated sprites hardly match.

I'm well aware that Romancing Saga 2 got a remake, but just like Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana, both versions have positives and negatives, and I feel these classics deserve to be enjoyed.

In the case of Romancing Saga 3, the English translation is incomplete, and despite there existing a complete Spanish translation, there's never been an initiative to use it as a base for a complete, polished English translation, which is a shame.
