Seconded on the online ROM patcher. As a linux user, I find it way more convenient than using some crummy old patcher from the utilities section and having to run it in wine, or track down the original source to download a linux native version.

Oh that's kinda bad too. I was able to sticky the thread, and even rename it. Certainly needs a looking at! (please don't hurt me with the Knowledge of Book D: )

I can still see the options. I even fixed my minor changes (unstickied + changed title back to Book of Knowledge).

Yeah, now I can't see the mod stuff, so it's good on my end at least.

I've been working on and off the last week to make a script to import and export PlayStation textures (.tim files) into Aseprite, for the next version of a ROM hack I've made. So far, the Import script can import 4-bit and 8-bit textures, both the CLUT (Color Look Up Table) and the texture itself, but not yet 16-bit or 24-bit textures. The export script is really messy and can only export edited 4-bit textures from the import script, so I've got a lot to clean up there before it's really ready for any release, but it's just far enough along that I was able to use it for all the texture changes I needed already. I'm gonna work on cleaning up and improving mostly the export script and I'm gonna throw them up on github or something for anyone that'd be helpful to.

(These images are linked from Discord, so they'll expire sooner than later but I don't really know a better place to host them. Sorry about that.)

My guess is that the problem lies at least partially with their post layout, but it looks correct for me (I just double checked), so this is really weird. I'm using the Simply Luna theme.

EDIT: Just tried switching to the Acid [Iceman] theme and their layout definelty start's whacking out.

This is a quality of life update to a previous ROM hack of mine: Digimon Rumble Arena: True OG Edition

New features in v1.1:
- Random Character (Press Start)
- Random Stage (Press Start)
- Alternate Digimon Colors (Hold Select or R1 while selecting your character)
- Random Music
- Ability to Disable Respawn Combos

Download link
This is patched against the original US ROM, not the previous version of this hack.

The text the green arrow is pointing at is intended to be smaller, it seems. If it's too small for reading / comfort, you can increase font size under your profile settings. It defaults to "70", whatever that means, but personally I increased it to 90. I'm sure 70 looks great and all at 1024x758 on the CRTs of old, but I'm using a 1080p flatpanel on my computer and planning on seeing things with it :P

If there is any way to do it, I'm not aware of it.

But! This forum does allow you to embed HTML / CSS into your post (that's how post layouts like mine work), so maybe you could find a way to "fake it" like that (IDK much about HTML / CSS tho TBH, so IDK if that alone would make it possible, but it's worth a shot).

So, I spent a while on w3schools tryna figure out a good way to make a div expand on hover, and I think this code came out pretty well.

Hidden Text (hover to view)

So, here's the HTML/CSS code I whipped up to make this work. Feel free to use it. I made very liberal use of the Preview button as I made this post :P

<style>
.hidden
{
height:1.2em;
width:3.6em;
overflow:hidden;
padding:5px;
background:#555555;
color:white;
}
.hidden:hover
{
width:99%;
height:auto;
overflow:visible;
}
</style>Hidden Text (hover to view)
<div class="hidden">Hidden

Your Text Here!</div>

EDIT: Just saw RT-55J's neat little trick after I made my post, but damn that is simple and clever!

<details><summary>Sadly, there is no way to do this</summary>
<br>None whatsoever. :3c
<br></details>

Yes, that was a port of the arcade game with some additional features.

Nice! It’s been awhile since I tried doing some hacking on the ps1. I managed to write a data compressor for the ps1 mmx3(rockman x3) but I just couldn’t figure out how the sprite system worked due to not having enough knowledge about how the ps1 registers worked. I definitely need to do some more research on MIPS asm. I’ll eventually try again to learn some ps1 hacking. Do you have any links to your projects that you have worked on?

This is the PS1 ASM reference I use. The CPUs registers are 32 bit, and treated as signed by default but you can usually add "u" to the end of most instructions to make it treat everything as unsigned. I wish you luck in learning PS1 ASM! It took me a few tries before it felt like I was doing more than just beating my head against the wall.

Odd. Frequently, I post screenshots of my unfinished content on my Discord server. You could try updating your message by replacing the expired links with new ones. Simple.

In my opinion for editing the .tim files used in PSX games, Tim2View is the recommended utility for exporting graphics and textures.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to reupload those images somewhere else. I'm not gonna sit here and keep refreshing Discord links :P

I certainly used tim2view paired with this, but I just used it to extract individual tim files out of a collection of them. I mostly wanted to use Aseprite as it has an indexed color mode, so I never have to think about using colors not in the palette or having issues going from PNG back to tim and that kinda stuff. Maybe I'm overcomplicating it, and I'm not very experienced with texture editing to be fair, but this approach certainly worked out for me.

Well, I just noticed I have been getting robbed at the item shop. I think if you sell something you only get %60 of your money back. I wish it would disclose that where we make our purchases. I should have known better. :|

I mean, getting less on the sell price than on the buy price is just common RPG stuff. I'd expect that TBH. Gotta avoid infinite money loops somehow.

10 year old me loved two things: computers and Sonic the Hedgehog. Go figure I'd figure out what an emulator is, and find a bunch of cool, interesting, or strange Sonic ROM hacks. Never got past just playing ROM hacks until recently though, and I must say, making Gameshark cheat codes is a really good starting place.

Oh, that's actually important! I thought each theme has its own logo. Well in that case, yes I agree with the outlines.

Themes can specify their own unique logo. It seems NinCollin, when setting up the site, just kinda slapped down a lot pre-existing themes, so what themes have their own logo or use the global one is hit or miss. It's pretty obvious to tell though, because the ones that don't use the global logo usually have the old acmlm logo on display.

It'd also be a lot of work to recolor the logo for each theme, to be honest. There is a lot of them, and half of them don't have anyone using them anyways.

Can anyone explain to me, what i need to do, to make my hack appear in database?
I cant find it using search form and i cant find "post hack" button.

Hack submissions are still being worked on, and the database only contains an archive of romhacking.net at present. Submissions will come in the future, so making this thread is the best you can do for now. Keep your eyes open for more updates from NinCollin!
