You know what might draw in more people? Posting new rom hacks.
It seems that, without a proper submission system that puts new hacks into the ROM Hacks, many people aren't that interested in posting them to the forums. I suppose that makes sense, so hopefully NinCollin can find the free time to make that feature happen sometime soon!

Maybe we could have in the forum category "Submissions" a subforum for "New Submissions". So people could create posts for their upcoming submissions (and updates) before they submit. It could be a discussion about the submissions itself, rather than the Romhacks. In example if people have certain questions how to do stuff or to organize, specific to this site and their rules.

And the main bar with the links on top of the forum could include a button "Submit", which could link to the "Submissions" subforum. And later if there is a proper submissions system for the database, then the button would link to that place instead.
Well, there is already the Full Releases board, so people can put there new ROM hacks there, and a few have.

I'm honestly not sure why the Submissions category was added, since only the Rejected Submissions board exists, and no one can create threads there (no permissions). Maybe Full Releases could be moved there and renamed like you suggested. Adding a submit button that just brings you to that board would be a decent stop gap though, in any case.

I was thinking of having discussions about the submissions, directly linked like a thread for each submission. Kinda like what the comment section was (or rather is) on old RHDN. At the moment NeoRomhacking.net does not have comments for those entries. In example updates could be discussed in those threads too.

But you are right, this additional board would collide with the the Full Releases board and make it even more confusing probably.

Is it possible to have a link on each submission, that points to a forum post in that board? Each post linked to such an entry could start with "ID WhateverTitle", as in "8788 SMB3 Mario in SMB1 (Hack of Super Mario Bros.)". Just a few random ideas to be honest.
Having a discussion thread for a ROM hack linked directly to its submission in the hacks database would be really cool TBH. Let the OP be the ROM hack description or vice versa.

Updated OP to contain the images once again. Got off my lazy ass and made an imgur account to host the pictures on and hotlinked those. Never did get around to cleaning up this script and releasing it tho. I really should :P

Nice work! I assume you're the one who made the Girl Ness hack for Earthbound?

This is currently the best place to post your ROM hacks here. There isn't a submission system yet, as the admin of this site got busy with life things before having a chance to finish it. Hopefully it can get done soon.

Nah, it just doesn't work. I gave it a try to the same results. Looks like a CSS gaff, probably.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for 3DS. I never played this game before and just found out about this song. This song is amazing to me.
Man, I loved that a game a lot when I played it. Good game.

You know what would be cool? A YouTube playlist with these tracks. The playlist name could be called "Neo Romhacking.net Soundtrack".^^
Not a bad idea, but it'll ultimately be up to whoever makes it to keep it up to date. It also won't ever be "complete", since at least one thing that has been linked already is an SPC file that needs a dedicated player. Maybe I'll do it later.

EDIT: haha 69

I have a physical keyboard on my phone, so I'd be more inclined to do it if I could be bothered to log in on my phone, but I've posted from mobile on other forums in the past and it's, not the best experience. Sometimes it's better than nothing tho if you're away from your PC for long enough and just want something else to do for a lil' while.

Centralization is dangerous, the web is at its best when there are multiple smaller sources of data/information. It's more convenient when things are centralized, but it isn't so inconvenient to have multiple sources that it's worth the downsides to centralize. There's never just one Italian restaurant in a city, right? There are multiple options, each doing things a bit differently, etc.
I'll second agreeing that Galeforce said what I think already, but let me put it another way.

A generalized resource greatly helps out the games and communities not big or popular enough for someone to step up and make a community dedicated to it, but it doesn't stop others from making such dedicated spaces, and with the RHDN fiasco as it has been, there are even more choices between generalized "one-stop-shop" replacements for RHDN than there ever has been. The good ones will prevail (hopefully), and the bad ones will eventually wither away or something, all in time, but for now there's more options than ever. I don't think it could be any more decentralized right now.

I'm actually a total lurk for RHDN since most of my time was spent on one of its predecessors, Acmlm's Board. Vizzed, which still exists was inspired from the board's existence and many others still use the concept of the board even to this day, including the board you're on right now.
Ah, Vizzed, my first forum. I'll always be nostalgic for it, but admittedly posting there just hasn't interested me in years. Certainly doesn't help that I don't like the redesign Davideo did a few years back. Oh, and their RGR Plugin going from unusable to requiring an esoteric ritual to use due to the death of Flash. Gave me a big soft spot for anything Acmlmboard tho.

I never had a RHDN account, tho I posted a hack there once. I kinda stumbled onto here by accident, and was compelled to sign up seeing someone crazy enough to start an Acmlmboard in 2024 (which I thought was an insanely insecure thing to do, but it seems not actually).

Do you know how far it is off I-90? I hope to go to another FGC event over in Chicago sometime next year (money permiting), so maybe I'll get off just to see this in person if I do go.

Well, 90's going to put you on the north side of Indiana. Any restaurant worth its salt is probably going to have something like that. Just on a quick pass, I found this...

Illinois has them as well, especially in place like The 50's Diner, but that's further south in Peoria and the like down 55 and 74.
Ah, so it's not a dish from a specific diner. Good to know, I'll have to look more closely at where to stop when the time comes I suppose!

Posted by Galeforce
I'd probably spread it out for about 3 days (which means about 3 meals per day) before I get sick of eating it and have to eat something else altogether. That's just how my body works, I guess.
I'll be honest, I'm spreading that out between me and whatever homies I take on the road with me, and we'll probably still take some with us :P

I've gotten back to my TAP Master grind last night, and after months of not seriously grinding (just occasional TGM 20G on my Switch handheld to kill time), and I very quickly made a 16 second improvement to my best time. That sweet M rank is crawling closer, but it's still so far away yet!

I should really consider doing this now that I've gotten sub-60 in Apo and my official times in official games are close enough. The best 'clone' performance I did was on Heboris back in the day but it was a cheat - used SRS rotation to get S9. That's not nearly as difficult as using a rotation system like TGM that has limited wall kicks. I don't think I've done better than S3 or so on the original TGM but it's been a hot minute since I've tried.
Honestly, I feel like TGM is a different beast, because seemingly everything about getting good at it doesn't seem to translate much back to guideline Tetris and vice versa. Best advice I can give, is to press Down x8 CBA on the title screen to get a 20G start. You've gotta be able to survive at least 500 levels of it so you might as well start practicing the hard part (when you go back to normal runs, you can treat 300-500 as if it were 20G to make things less complex than trying to remember whats still possible and for how long). Another bit of advice is to not underestimate the step reset. SRS's basically infinite lock delay stalling makes it very easy to get used to hesitating for as long as you need when you get stuck in a really tricky situation, even for an otherwise very fast player like you, and TGM will beat you into the ground for hesitating too long. Other than that, don't think about the kicks too hard. What you're really trying to do, is avoid dependencies (such as kicks), because the randomizer, while forgiving enough to usually not flood you the same piece too much, is more than happy to not give you the piece you want for a long time. Have a plan B to fill things, and don't hesitate to skim your board if you're getting high up or things are dicey.

I'm sure you know about the Arcade Archives releases of TGM and TAP, but I do highly recommend them. Easy, simple, and very low latency is just really fucking convenient. I find MAME to be laggy if you don't do something to try and improve it, and just less convenient and annoying in general TBH. Fightcade FBNeo and the TGM PSX Conversion is simple enough and low latency too if you're really against spending money.

If you do give it another shot: Good luck!

I had been getting sideways mentions of that, even though I don't watch baseball these days (been about two decades since I lived in IL where that was at least a passing interest).

And by sideways, memes like this.

(Also, we can't embed YT shorts the easy way, it seems...)

You just have to change the URL format :P

As far as I'm aware, if you click back to a page that had a sprite you missed, it should count. Also, the sprite layer doesn't move, so if you scroll down the page the sprite moves with it, so if you get a sprite it'll always be immediately visible somewhere without scrolling.

Neat trick for counting! Honestly not wanting to sit down and count out what I have is the main reason I hadn't made a thread like this sooner. Anyways, I have 123 sprites thus far. There are so many Pikachus!
