Haha thanks for the positive response. Honestly there is no hurry anyway, as the current logo does its job, just needs some more character (in the sense of stylized) to me. And that's the thing; such a logo is an identity and you don't want to pick randomly from a stranger. I'm already happy you even considered one. :-)
Edit: The background shapes are representing buildings in a big city. For the black and white lovers (same size, I just made a mistake when capturing screenshot): v19 on Daily Cycle 2.0 beta theme background: ![]() v19 on Diet Board 2 theme background: ![]() |

BTW Romhack Plaza is a rebrand of RHDO, romhacks.org (still forwards to the new domain). |

The voices in my head; after some, time they sound like music.
If we ignore them for a moment, I really like the soundtrack of Redout from 2016, an F-Zero like game. Nintendo refuses to make a new F-Zero, so this is what I played instead. The soundtrack really pops off when racing in highspeed, so just listening to it won't have the same effect. :-) (I "sound" like a marketing guy...) My second favorite tune is an early track and has lot of energy! Enough talk; *throws wine glas*: Edit: Replaced the song with another one, as this is better suited for first time listeners. |

Posted by MacUserPosted by SnowshoePosted by DarkBowser64 If I was replaying Chrono Trigger now, I would probably play the original SNES version with Romhacks: MSU1 for CD quality audiotracks, added FMV sequences and some bugfixes. Possibly a modern re-translation and some additional content. However I don't know if a complete package like this is possible, where all Romhacks and mods are compatible. |

Here is a new version 20, based on the original logo that is currently active. Basically a HD version if you so will, with a bit of color leaking effect:

Posted by MacUser No, so much wrong here. bootleg is basically a romhack and based on the original game, so clearly this is not what happened here. Palworld uses original monster designs and does not use any of existing designs from Pokemon. Proof is that Nintendo didn't do any copyright strike for stealing Pokemon designs. The patent system for gameplay elements is borked and hinders innovation in the gaming industry. You should not celebrate that in my opinion. It is remain to see what actual patent infringement here is, because we don't know yet. And no, Palworld is not Pokemon with guns, its a complete different genre and has nothing to do with Pokemon. |

Ah, I see a man of culture. ![]() Most backgrounds aren't pitch black, so it will be visible a little bit, but most importantly the font stays visible no matter what. If the background city is not visible, that would be okay too to me, because that's basically a glorified outline. I will send you download links shortly, with Inkscape project files, SVG format and higher resolution as well. I tried to make the city a bit more pixelated, to give it a bit retro feeling (inspired by your mockup), but left it out for the moment. If you want, I could do that. Overall I did touch a little bit on some details. Here is an overview how it looks on different backgrounds. The first 4 are v21 without extra outline, the bottom 4 are v22 with extra outline. BTW I could change the thickness of the outline if this is too much and you like that in an alternate variant. ![]() |

So the day has finally come. Congratz, it looks fantastic in person. :p BTW the city background represents the community. |

Great idea to use Mega Man X background, fits perfectly and looks good. The shorter version as NEOR works well. Also good idea for using that one as link button. |

Man this looks fun. Last time I played an emulated fighting game with a netplay client was probably 15 years ago or so, but it was a different client. Need to set Fightcade up, its even available on Linux now.
Edit: I gave up on this again. Forgot I already have an account and tried Fightcade before, but gave up because how the Roms and files are structured. Maybe I'll try it again sometime. |

Posted by Hiryuu No (I'm actually doing emulation for 2 decades), its that I have a full fbneo romset and can't use it the way I want it without duplication of Roms. Bios files in a separate directory (for use in RetroArch) and Fightcade does not allow me to set a different bios directory for fbneo. So a simple symbolic link to the fbneo Roms directory doesn't work here for me. I've looked into the config structure and couldn't find a setting to change bios directory. So this is an entirely me issue, because I want to do it an a very certain way. |

Posted by MacUser Hmm, I see. But the Palworlds are all their own designs. No Pokemon is bootlegged here. So Palworld would be okay to sell Palworld plushies. Otherwise Nintendo would have dropped a lawsuit about copyright, not about a patent infringement. Posted by Hiryuu The thing is, no company is able to do proper game preservation without piracy. I'm a firm believer of this. Even the emulated games you can buy and play from Wii shop and in the Switch shop of older titles, the games are not really preserved. Sega and bunch of other companies sell bundles of games on many platforms, such as Steam, and yet those games are not really preserved. As long as a game is dependent on services and contracts, its not really in my opinion. So in that sense, no company is really interested into preserving the games forever. This can only be achieved with communities, emulators and piracy. |

Posted by Yuri Bacon I was also under this assumption. I'm a bit surprised that FBC is designed like this, for easy feed of repositories. Its super useful, but little bit flaky if you ask me. RetroArch also has this downloading of a few Roms, but these are fixed links you cannot change and free games only for testing. So it doesn't encourage people to pirate Third Strike. Although... you know the drill. ![]() Maybe there should be a rule in this forum how to handle topics like this, given how important it is. So in example I know exactly what's allowed to post for myself. |

Posted by Hiryuu Well, the text files you linked is a list of urls to download the roms. You don't need Fightcade for that, just copy paste each line in example. I don't want sound like accusing here, just talking about the details. |

Maybe we could have in the forum category "Submissions" a subforum for "New Submissions". So people could create posts for their upcoming submissions (and updates) before they submit. It could be a discussion about the submissions itself, rather than the Romhacks. In example if people have certain questions how to do stuff or to organize, specific to this site and their rules.
And the main bar with the links on top of the forum could include a button "Submit", which could link to the "Submissions" subforum. And later if there is a proper submissions system for the database, then the button would link to that place instead. |

I was thinking of having discussions about the submissions, directly linked like a thread for each submission. Kinda like what the comment section was (or rather is) on old RHDN. At the moment NeoRomhacking.net does not have comments for those entries. In example updates could be discussed in those threads too.
But you are right, this additional board would collide with the the Full Releases board and make it even more confusing probably. Is it possible to have a link on each submission, that points to a forum post in that board? Each post linked to such an entry could start with "ID WhateverTitle", as in "8788 SMB3 Mario in SMB1 (Hack of Super Mario Bros.)". Just a few random ideas to be honest. |

I actually agree with both sides: centralized and decentralized. There are pros and cons to both sides. Centralized has the problem of being controlled by a single or few entities, which they can do whatever they want. On the other side a central place is easier to use and maintain for end users, as only one source needs to be checked and maintained. In example I don't have to look for 3 sources to know which version is the newest one of keep up where does what get uploaded.
Downsides are the opposite of those points off course. Each community has its own rules and members. The usability is different and so on. You have to check discussions in different forums, because maybe someone helps with a solution in one community that another one needs help with. Solutions and requests are scattered. Therefore I am conflicted with this question. |
