Hey folks, I'm kkzero. I dabble in various things, romhacking being one such thing. I dabble in various romhacking things too. While RHDN was still up, I submitted some mind-numbingly low-effort flukes such as Samus Goes to the Fridge to Get a Glass of Milk, Gengar, and Kirby's Dream Land 2 DX.

also am bunny

My first catch was Bastiodon, and I've since found several more fellas. It's such a cool feature, especially since it makes my habit of just loitering webpages seem less useless.

Several years back I dabbled in doing music hacking for Super Metroid with a tool called mITroid, which takes a .it tracker module and converts it to the game's N-SPC variant. IIRC doing music hacking for the game before this tool dropped in like 2017/2018 was just writing asm, so this tool brought a fair amount to the SM hacking table.

I've never had any rabbits as pets but I enjoy seeing them out and about in nature every now and then.

My holy trinity of bunnies in media is Jazz Jackrabbit from the series of the same name, Lopunny from Pokemon, and Yakopoo from Trip World.

Looks like a pretty nice selection of stuff! Maybe this one's too oddball for the list, but probably the nearest and dearest SNES hack to my heart is Super Metroid Arcade, which I played a lot when it was new. Guess there was just something about a Metroid experience without having to chow down on a whole defined world again this time around that really clicked with me--just dabblings of each vanilla room thrown at me here and there.

A first-party Sony IP about first-person 3D platforming as a robotic bunny named Robbit. Consists of two main games, as well as two spinoffs that are both heavier in text and Japan-only, all for the PS1.

I first got into it last year after seeing an acquaintance recommend it, and thoroughly enjoyed the main two games. Gameplay holds up surprisingly well for such an early 3D game, and the simple graphics nonetheless shine through the vibrant and whimsical aesthetic. Almost feels like a 3D version of Sonic CD at times. Overall it's a very fun romp and I really enjoy it, and I wish it had more recognition.

See also: Geograph Seal, a Sharp X68000 game by Exact, Jumping Flash's devs, that's similar but more of a tank shooter than a platformer.

Ooh Scorbunny and their evos are cool fellas! I remember when I first saw them in the SwSh reveal trailer in 2019, I thought their design was such a vibe, sooooo cute. Though I guess that could've been part nostalgia for the Gen 3 mons since they're basically Torchic as a bunny anyway.

Also posting about Jumping Flash yesterday reminded me that Robbit exists and is a cool one. Especially with his English VA in the first game, what a scrunkly little space bunny who Jumps and Goes.

My big take in this regard is the AGS-101 being my preferred GBA. I grew up spoiled by backlighting, and as such don't even mind the games that are designed for the lack of it looking less than ideal with it much.

Also, while I've never owned any 3DS other than the 2011 model, I kind of wish I'd waited until at least the XL.

Lately I haven't been doing so, but I'm not opposed to it and have sufficed with it quite fine in the past.

I've been checking in on the progress of this every now and then for several years. Kinda catching me by surprise suddenly seeing it done done after all this time. I've always admired the lil community these games spawned and the dedication to getting a polished fan translation patch done. Congrats on reaching completion!!!

I've been watching episodes of 2 Stupid Dogs/Super Secret Secret Squirrel on and off for the past while, and I just got through season 1. It's so goofy, I love it.

Also recently got into The Matrix with a few of the movies thus far. The original in particular is quite the thinker, and The Animatrix oozes of charmingly experimental animation styles.

I've always had a taste in doing visual art. Doodles since farther than I can cohesively remember, and a breakthrough in full-color digital pieces since I discovered FireAlpaca in 2015. You can find some of my highlights below, and more on my cohost or this thread on another small forum.

Mage girl with the intent of bearing the Windows logo colors. Also known as The Hooded Wanderer.

Some Halloween scrimblos gathered 'round. Was pretty proud of this one back when I did it, gave me a confidence boost in my digital art prowess.

Some Li'l Bunnies--group shot, Aro Week, and TDoV/Easter respectively. Drawing the first one here ultimately led me to make the Li'l Bunny my sona.

Some anthro bunnies for Halloween, Ace Week, and Christmas respectively.

A mental health drawing of a hollow bunny constrained by a dark figure of their inner psyche.

Xenia the Linux fox in a style akin to Klonoa. This one's done some pretty admirable numbers on my socials.

Additional anthro bunnies.

Yes! I have tried Krita before. It's quite packed for a FOSS art alternative, and has a great range of brushes. That said, I feel my linework tends to come out sloppier on Krita than it does on FireAlpaca, so I still default to the latter.

Ace faerie bun, I love it.

For another funny bunny in media--Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth. Very lagomorphic little guy energy.

Seems like the answer to that's always been "when it's done". In the meantime, I guess you could just plop the patch onto a file hosting site of your choice and make a thread in Full Releases that links said upload to get some community attention/feedback.

I've known about romhacks since my elementary school days, but never really considered getting into doing it until my teen years. I got my start in producing full releases with my dumb meme hacks of Metroid games, with finding hex tweaks and related research on the side. This gave me some skills to apply to RE-ing the PMD WiiWare games, which led me to being informed of Specialagentape's translation project that was being kept secret until release, and me being able to apply some finishing touches to that. When Ape showed me what he was doing to Donkey Kong Land a year later, I got inspired to tackle something of that caliber, with a few smaller-scale colorizations before the much longer effort on Kirby's Dream Land 2.

I guess my main drive was the prospect of making things people would truly enjoy, as growing up I felt like my creative talents in my personal life were much ridiculed. As such, the path into romhacking helped me deal with such old baggage.
