After nearly 16 long years, the Telefang.net team is overjoyed to announce that the translation patch for Keitai Denjuu Telefang 1 (both Power and Speed versions) is complete!

Released in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, Keitai Denjuu Telefang is a game where you befriend sentient monsters called Denjuu. Riffing on Japan's unique Keitai culture at the turn of the century, Denjuu are called into battle using cell phones, when defeated share their phone number with you and further communicate via text messages. Despite initial infamy in the west for the unrepresentative bootleg releases titled Pokémon Diamond and Jade, the game has gained a cult following owing to inspired creature designs by Saiko Takaki, a killer soundtrack by Kinuyo Yamashita, its humorous monster-of-the-week story, and solid, if light, gameplay. No fan of Pokémon or Game Boy games should miss it!

Our translation patch features fixes for multiple bugs in the original game, longer nicknames, improved name entry, no-RTC mode (for RTC-less flash carts), restored and fully coloured SGB functionality (complete with original borders), multiple variable-width fonts, automatic text narrowing, and everything translated into English of course (including the title screen voiceover).

Read more and download the translation patch here! You can also join our Discord server to report bugs or just talk about your experience.

I've been checking in on the progress of this every now and then for several years. Kinda catching me by surprise suddenly seeing it done done after all this time. I've always admired the lil community these games spawned and the dedication to getting a polished fan translation patch done. Congrats on reaching completion!!!

Congratulations! It's great to see this finally finished up. The whole Pokemon Diamond and Jade thing left people with a bad impression of the game at first, for sure.

But there's so much to these games that it's worth giving a proper try.

16 years is crazy when you think about it. Are you guys sick of this IP yet? Or are mouths watering already at working on the sequel, I'd image its gonna be love or hate at this point :P

Either way, I'm sure I much needed break is in order. Congrats.

Its only one game really, think Pokémon Red vs. Blue, some differences, but really minor and probably not worth a second play-through unless you are die hard fan.

The two versions, Power and Speed, have some differences:

The starter Denjuu that the player is given at the beginning of the game is different, with Crypto for the Power version and Fungus for the Speed version.
The rival Denjuu which Kai uses is different, with Angios for the Power version and Gymnos for the Speed version.
There are some Denjuu that can only be found in each version.
There are some colour differences between the two, such as the colour of the D-Shot menu.
The order of houses to visit for the puzzle in Panses Village differs between versions.
The directions to navigate Ixos Forest are slightly different in each version.
Levels of wild Denjuu in Bryon Ruins differ somewhat between versions on floors 1-6.
