Hi all. I created a few icon and logo variations for this community and forum. Here is an overview. If there is an interest, I can upload them in any size.

Here is a before and after "mockup" by downloading the web files and replacing the images. The "New" icon is also unreadable on my 1440p screen, even when resized. So I replaced it with a newer new.

Hi all. I'm myself not a Romhacker at all, just played around with very basic stuff. But sure I play them and like the community. I wish the best to everyone.

I was very uncertain where to go next. After the official shoutout from Nightcrawler, it is NeoRHDN then. There is some trust in his words. Long live the king!

This is one of my favorite Shmups on this system. It never came out in the US, but in Japan and Europe. So many have missed out on this cool game.

Game: Over Horizon
Platform: NES / Famicom
Request: Several improvements

* Sound: One thing that always bugged me is the Soundtrack while shooting or other effects are played, will cutoff parts of the music track. I don't know if its possible, but I wish someone would make this game playable without the music layer cutoff.
* Performance: The game itself has some terrible slowdowns. While this can be mitigated with emulator settings, it would be cool if the game get a patch like the SNES Fastrom patches, if possible.
* Battery Save: To save settings and formation of custom weapon and options.

Edit: Removed bonus requests. I felt too greedy.

Thanks everyone for the positive responses. Ok Impala! A poll sounds great idea to me. But I don't want to bring NinCollin in a forced position by creating a poll, if that makes sense. Also there needs to be made slight changes, as I have seen some of the coloring does not work well with this theme. For some reason the chosen border color in the first posting becomes invisible when used on this theme. I'll update them, show some preview with the theme like this and upload somewhere, then he can decide what to do next.

The font is an original design and to be honest I had no Mario World font in mind with it. So I'm not sure why you call it rip off. I personally like the 2 color design, because it looks cleaner to me. But well, that's why I did it in the first place. ^^

For the multi color of the current design makes sense now, also the other icons are all styled with Super Mario World in mind.

Oh, that's actually important! I thought each theme has its own logo. Well in that case, yes I agree with the outlines.

Here are some new design ideas, while respecting the original multi color style and adding some border or background. Just for the variety sake and because I have a blast playing with this right now. The font is still the same though. The screenshots are with default theme as background, to see how the colors play.
Edit: I see not everything is well aligned yet, v7 in example looks wonky with the left part having too much free room.

Oh thanks haha. Just for the records, those colors (and any other color I use) are straight from this websites theme. The font color above are the same from the original logo! I use a color picker every time. :D

HI, glad you like them. Here are a few new variants incorporating latest requests. And its totally fine to make requests, I can do this all day long. :D v10 and v11 differ in outline color only. v12 is a new variant where the "Neo" and "R" are melted together and the neoromhacking.net is bigger. And the R H D and N are closer to each other, touching the letters. Just experimenting a little bit. If you have any ideas to implement, don't hesitate to ask or request. Maybe the thickness of the outline changed. I use Inkscape, a vector program. So these changes are easy to implement.

If you are happy with any of them, I'll give you a ready to go PNG file and the source SVG file.

First a link with previews of 8 different (random) themes as background:

And here with Standard Theme:

Ah, I had the same issue and was not sure if its the site or some browser plugins causing this. My IP changes automatically every day and I was suspecting this. But why does the forum has a strict IP verification, if we are logged in with our accounts anyway?

Most people would not know what this link is for and probably just ignore it. Even if you have this issue, its not easy to know where to look for. Therefore I recommend to add an entry in the FAQ, with an explanation what and how it solves it. At least if someone has a problem, its only natural to look for a FAQ (but most would ignore that either).

I recently tested a few themes. There are some really great ones, lot of them are not my thing. Did you go through the list and tried a few of them? Do you have a few to recommend or a favorite in use?

To change the look and theme for this forum, click Edit profile, scroll down a bit to Options/Theme and click the combo box to open up the list. On the bottom of the page you can Preview theme to see how the forum looks. To set and save the theme selection, click Edit profile.

I really like the look of "ABXD (Nina)" theme. There are a few more that looked good to me, maybe I rotate between them over time. In general I prefer those without a background image, or at least one that is not intrusive. (BTW an option to disable background image would be great to have. And are lists and list items in posts not supported?)

My top favorites so far:

- "ABXD (Nina)"
- "Miner's Lament (KP(9000)"

Also check these out:

- "Acid (Ice Man)"
- "Daily Cycle 2.0 (beta) (blackhole89)"
- "Diet board2 (Tyty)"

And here is a (small) screenshot with "ABXD (Nina)" theme active:

"The Tropical" looks nice too, but I'm unsure about the background. It's on the less distracting and good looking fullscreen images. BTW its also a nice feature to see how many people actually use the theme. I've never seen this in any forum before.

BTW "Simple Luna (Lunaria)" is also beautiful. Totally forgot to list.

Some of them are nice. Besides the character from your avatar, maybe What if Xenia but Klonoa-style is my favorite. Not only because I am Linux user and fan, but also the style works greate as Klonoa-style and you captured it wonderfully.

Have you ever tried the program Krita?

(Edit: I just want to clarify my wording here: "Besides the character from your avatar" wasn't meant to exclude it being nice. I meant its my favorite at the side of the Xenia drawing.)

I sent you a pm with additional project files, so you are free from me in the future when needed. v13 is the requested v12 with black border. The bottom site reference color had to be changed too. I think black border looks quite good in any situation to be honest.

I can still do any adjustments and changes whenever you need. :-)

v13

Hmm, it looked strange if only one letter was overlapping, so I tried to overlap them all. And I couldn't help and touched other aspects too. :D

v14:

EDIT:

Guess I'm officially flooding this thread now... I try to come up with something new and then I came up with something old.

Just an hour ago finished watching the first Harry Potter film from 2001. I never watched them before, even though I was already an adult at this time. Don't ask me how this could have happened. Will continue with the rest throughout the weekend.
