As for your point #1 downloads, I think that's just not implemented yet, but you point #2 on searches, I've also found search to be quite wonky and this is a perfect example, definitely a bug. Reviews are being worked on IIRC, this is just some of the stuff that did not get uploaded to the Internet Archive so all this data has to be manually added in, and it take time. And I'm going to assume more sorting functions will come once the bare basic are in place, but perhaps NinCollin could make a "what's being worked on post" which goes over some of these things, this might cut down on redundancies of common questions if things being ever pick up here.

Yo John, love your work, and I really do hope that you decide to post about your updates on this here site to keep us (well at least me) up to date on them. 
And I'm still counting down the days until that 7th Saga one finally get a release... but no rush or anything. 
BTW: This site is actually a little different from the RHDN one we are accustomed too, it actually has many forum sub-divisions for a variety of topics, and the "General Chat" is probably a better place this should have been posted in (not that I care or anything). Or was this is actually a stealth confirmation that you will be keeping us updated about your ROM hacking adventure on NeoRomhacking lol. |

Yeah I saw on RDHN about your updates and possibly moving them to twitter, all I can say about twitter is uh, gross.
Your updates are deserving for a proper home (ie. here) in case RHDN does down completely. I guess call me old school, but I just hate twitter so damn much. And don't worry about The 7th Saga thing, keep after yourself first and foremost, hacking can come later. And as so long as it never completely dies out, I'll just keep on waiting patently. (NOTE: I probably have about a good 40-50 years left of this lifespan, so if you can by then though, that'd be swell.) |

Yeah, Collin is very active (when he's awake) and could probably answer everything you're wondering about.
But remember, you then don't get forum posting EXP if you use Discord lol. Which is kinda why I like this Pokemon/RPG thing because it kinda encourages forum use and discourages Discord use, which I'm all for. (I hate discord, it kills forums like this everywhere, it's why RHDN is such a ghost town nowadays IMO.) |

Man IRC, let me tell you about IRC 
It was damn near essential in the early days, had it boot on startup every single day for probably over a decade or more, and I have so many log.txt file from my EverQuest raiding days that I just can't in good conscience delete, ah memories lol. I haven't used it in a LONG time but still just copy my installation of it from PC to PC out of habit, and surprisingly mIRC still gets updated. I did hear there was a way to use IRC as a front-end for Discord, that might be worth looking into for us old heads who like its interface better, but I know nothing on how to do it. |

As much as I love the forums, I don't think the general public wants to be landing on them each time coming here to "grab and thing" then go.
Now I'm not saying to copy RHDN, but maybe copy it a little bit but change the names . Because frankly a lot of it just works and if it ain't broke...
Parts I think are important for a Main/landing page to have; 
A News section if we ever go get one up and running I think is a must, and a recently added section split into sections with a link to see more, etc. is a nice QoL feature for keeping up-to-date with "happenings" at a glance, and lastly the Changelog, I used this part heavily as I usually don't pay much attention to the internet world until my weekends, so I miss a lot of the news when it happens and just play catch-up then, this was a great way of seeing all the related changes, new releases, updates to old, etc. Essential (for me at least) for catching up over a course of 1, 2, even 3 weeks. (I'll probably think of some other stuff later, but this is a good starting point.) |

RHDN hosts an online patching tool;
https://www.romhacking.net/patch/ And while I've never used it before, I've seen many comments recently that go similarity to "What is going to happen to the Online ROM Patcher tool if RHDN goes down?", so there's at least some part of the community that does like this, so perhaps you could added it to the site in a similar fashion. It would be a small convenience QoL tool for many I'd wager. Whether or not RHDN sticks around, this tool is also hosts on the authors site and GitHub as well; https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/ https://github.com/marcrobledo/RomPatcher.js/ ________ There is also a similar tool called for hashes (probably much less important to people); https://www.romhacking.net/hash/ Again, this is just to make it a one-stop-shop for ROM patches/patching for many folks I suppose. |
