I wonder, has anyone attempted decomping SMRPG? If so, maybe they know where the text rendering functions are. You said the game already has a VWF available it uses for cutscenes, so it should be as simple as changing a jump instruction (more or less). Would be harder if no one knows where the font rendering functions actually are, 'cause you'd have to figure it out yourself.

I do hope there's just one successor when all's said and done, it'd be a pain to have to check for and update or submit hacks on multiple predominant romhacking sites that host them instead of just one like it was with RHDN. Last I checked the RHDN Discord staff was going to attempt to make a new site also, but neoromhacking already seems a fair bit ahead of it... If both sites decide to not concede though I suppose we will have more than one!

Well there is a rom hack site just for Super Mario World hacks. It's got a handful of Yoshi's Island rom hacks on it but it's like 98% Super Mario World stuff. There's some fun hacks there that aren't on this site. It's been around a long time too. My personal favorite one is "Mario is Missing Done Right".

There is a lot of ROM hacking sites for specific games or franchises already, so I wouldn't worry about it. I think people who like a general "one stop shop" style site like RHDN was just don't want to have to go to both neoromhacking.net and romhack.ing to find new stuff.

Norton and other crappy antivirus programs tend to use "heuristics" to "auto detect" viruses or untrustworthy sites or whatever bogus they can scare you with. TBH if NeoROMhacking.net was gonna steal your wife and eat your dog, it would have done so by now. I concur with NinCollin, it's probably just because it's a new site.

Just finished the main story in Kitsune Tails. It's a really cute, queer retro platformer that's like a cross between Mario 3 and Ganbare Goemon.

Just looked this game up and it looks adorable. I'll have to keep it in mind when I have money next.

There's a speedrunning scene, too!

Neat! But NGL last time I looked at a game and went "I'm so gonna speedrun that" I found myself in the interesting position of making the main speedrunning Discord server for that game but never actually do any runs because I got bored of the game after I beat it Day 1 lol. Here Comes Niko! is a very good and fun game by the way.

That's a boy? That is a ....very pretty boy oo;;
Very cute game, Animal Crossing vibes. I usually don't get into 3D games but I'll wishlist it for later.

Nonbinary, actually! The game doesn't come right out with it though. I know it's said in game somewhere but I mostly know and remember from the developer confirming it and their pronouns as they / them. They are indeed very cute tho!

AcmlmBoard works with PHP8 now? The github only says the rewrite for PHP7 is still underway. That's fascinating to know! It sounds like its biggest backend vulnerability has been removed (as best as it ever could be), that's awesome.

We're running the development PHP7 branch of AcmlmBoard 2; the main thing that causes issues with PHP8 is unquoted array keys (which are now Fatal Errors; most of the pages that are broken are due to this; they're easy to fix but gotta catch em all -_- )

Makes sense. I'm not very knowledgeable on PHP, so I just assumed the PHP7 branch required a PHP7 version to run. I didn't realize PHP8 was backwards compatible with PHP7 so to speak. It's cool that the acmlmboard community is passionate enough about this old quirky forum software to keep it's dependencies up to date and secure for modern posting!

If it's being sold, the most likely way to get your hands on it is to buy it, unfortunately. But once you have it, there are ways to dump those carts and get them as ROMs, make a patch against the original game and put it online.

The cookie page seems like it'd fit best in or around Profile Settings IMO. I only post from my desktop while I'm at home, and my IP seemingly never changes, so I haven't had to relogin since my first login lol

Ask and you shall receive.
(This file host requires that I set an expiration date, so I chose the max of one year, but I'll hang onto these files after it does.)

Link doesn't work for me. IDK if it's just me or not tho.

Probably a "security" thing tbh; not sure what the basis for it was)
A popular thing to do back then to forums unfortunately was to find the unfiltered places you could insert JavaScript and steal a user's cookies and therefore their login session, and all that user would have to do is view the page without JS disabled to become victim. Strict IP verification means account session theft through XSS was stopped at the time of incident instead of giving someone time to cause damage with a higher level account since the login cookie won't match the thief's IP. So while a minor nuisance, having to log back in every day is much less of a bother for me personally, than finding half the stuff deleted one morning because someone stole a privileged account and needing Nin to roll back the database, and I can live with it being what it is.

Yeah, that'd do it.

I use the Simply Luna (Lunaria) theme, because I'm a sucker for ponies. There's a few others I found in there I thought were nice but I don't remember the names. There's a christmas style theme in there that's pretty nice, and I plan to switch to it for December. I love christmas forum themes for some reason, even tho a lot of things about the holiday annoy me (usually the constant playing of the same 10 songs)

Submissions are planned but not yet implemented. You can post a hack on the "Full Releases" board if you got something complete you're ready to share tho.

I've been watching the PBS Kids schedule and watching Cyberchase when it comes on, and it's been kinda neat that this show is still airing (and getting new episodes) and neat that I can just get it for free over the air. Aside from that I've been sloooowly working on watching every My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode and I'm on season 9 so far so there's not a ton left.

They are still making new episodes for Cyberchase!?!?!?! Damn, color me impressed!

It's been years since I've seen most of MLP, I should rewatch it sometime, or so I keep telling myself, but I never do :P

There's probably multiple working solutions for each problem, but knowing a little bit of ASM will probably get the best results in all cases.

For Darkstalkers 3, you can probably just replace the "normal" textures with his "improved textures" so that it gets the improved sprites regardless of what it tries to load. It's not the best solution out there but it's pretty simple to do without ASM.

SFA3, if there exists code for "regulation mode off" but it's just inaccessible a simple Gameshark cheat code might be able to enable it but you'd have to do some digging.

Pocket Fighter, I can't imagine anything short of reverse engineering what code loads the voice lines and redirecting them to other desired files would do.

For texture stuff, give tim2view a try for seeing what textures each file contains and replacing them. For ASM stuff, try mednafen or PCSX-R for emulators with real time debuggers. Either way, psximager will be handy for ripping the files out of each game, and injecting or rebuilding the disc image with your newly modified files.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately I'm not an expert on debugging, along with using ASM as well.

Sorry about this.

I'm not really either. I just beat my head against a wall until I finally kinda understood what I was doing. Give it a try, maybe it won't make sense this time, but if you come back to it and try again, you'll get it eventually.
