Features


  1. Submission System

    This is probably the single biggest hurdle; while I want to get some form of submission system open by August 20th, it's also a lot to code.

    At the very least (if I can't get the submission code completed by the 20th,) I'll have a forum and a File Uploader such that users can make a thread with resources to add/update, appropriately tag the thread as such, and I'll manually edit the database myself to make the changes

  2. A new home page, with recently released hacks + news

    I'd like to have a home page that shows news/newest resources, rather than dropping users directly into the forum. The page itself won't be hard to code, but editing all the references to index.php in the forum software's code might be annoying

  3. Improved search

    I'd like to add more sorting options, and improve the searchbox (as search is a big wonky)

  4. Improved mobile functionality

    This one is a little ways off (necessary features take priority over quality-of-life things) but the site could be make muchhh more mobile friendly

AcmlmBoard is definitely my favorite forum software; most others lack the charm and coziness (often left feeling "cold" in my opinion)

Yeah, the forum software's BBCode doesnt support those features sadly

There are workarounds though: using plain HTML

The font tag can make text bigger or smaller
<font size=4>This code</font>

Turns into this

You can also manually resize an image using an img tag
<img src="http://path.to/image" width="either a percent or whole number of pixels">



You can also combine that with a url tag to provide an easy way to view it full size
[url="http://path.to/image"]<img src="http://path.to/image" width="either a percent or whole number of pixels">[/url]

By/Before the 20th; I know one site (that uses a fresh database) is launching the 20th, and I'm sure former-RHDN staff have their own plans that they're pursuing, so it really needs to be "launched" ASAP >_>

Just a small bug. But Ghost Town mentions a post by Special which can't be viewed by a normal user. Now it keeps saying there is a new message, while there isn't.



And another small one. Once I posted a thread under meta, I can't add a tag anymore. I forgot to add the tag "bug" to this thread, and now I can't anymore.


Those are bugs/limitations with the forum software; I accidentally moved a thread to the display case, but the LastPost/LastPostDate?Threads/Posts columns of the forum index dont update when posts are deleted/moved

I really wish the source code for POPSTARTER was available.....

The dev gave up working on it from what I've heard, and there's really no functional alternative

It's a shame; it'd fantastic to be able to load any PS1 game from the PS2's HDD, but alas

The version of AcmlmBoard being used is the same version that the folks over at Kafuka use, so I'm not too worried about it

The main reason for choosing this software comes down to familiarity and preference; I dislike practically every other forum software out there. Most of them feel cold and uninviting, and I love the silly features that AcmlmBoard brings to the table
