Pretty much everything Gamma V makes is great. I wish more SMW hackers could be like her.

I'm also surprised that SMW2+3: The Essence Star wasn't on the list.

I don't really see this series talked about much outside of specific circles, so I thought I'd make a thread for it. It's a long-running series of JRPGs by Falcom that started with Trails in the Sky back in 2004 (and is considered part of the Legend of Heroes series, though Trails has very much eclipsed Legend of Heroes by now). So far, there have been 13 games announced, 12 of which have released and 11 of which have been localized, with the next one scheduled to come out in Japan on September 26 and the next localized one in early 2025. So yeah, there's a LOT of content here.

I got into the series back at the beginning of 2015 when the first game was the only one that had been translated, and I kind of fell in love with it. Heck, that's where my avatar comes from. Even my least favorite games in the series are still good, though I'll admit that at the time I discovered it, I would have taken just about any RPG that had turn-based battles (no, ATB doesn't count) and no random encounters. Things like the positioning-based battle system and the orbments add some interesting new twists to it, and the series has extensive lore, with a lot of backstory and characters. None of the games individually is my favorite RPG outright (that honor goes to Radiant Historia), but it's definitely my favorite RPG series (the only other one that would come anywhere near it is Mario & Luigi).

I got into Kiseki back in I think 2021, starting with Trails of Cold Steel 3.

Wasn't I the one who got you into the series in the first place?

This is a short, 11-level Super Mario World hack that I originally made for my nephew for Christmas 2023, but I later updated it. (I'd originally thrown it together in about 2 weeks, so once I had more time to work on it, I could fix bugs, add a bonus level, tweak some level design, and whatnot.) It's fairly easy, except for the bonus level, and there is a light item-collecting aspect.

This is what the title screen looks like. I didn't design a fancy logo for it, though (because again, this was originally made in 2 weeks).

The game starts with a hub area that has portals leading to new levels. Those have to be unlocked by finding gems in levels.

And here's what each of the levels looks like, except for the bonus level that's unlocked by finding all 60 gems. You can see some custom enemies and the like.

If you would like to play the hack yourself, the download link is here.

I've been on other forums that gave each user a little bit of space to put files in, such as screenshots, patches, audio files, and whatnot, which could then be linked to or downloaded. Is that something that would be viable here?

Because the one person from there who wasn't a personal friend whom I had test it basically said that it was too bland and easy, which I feel like would probably be the prevailing opinion.

Trails through Daybreak, mostly. I've also been playing Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 and a bit of Magic: The Gathering Arena (though I much prefer physical).

The first Internet forum that I ever registered on was GameSpot, and I asked at one point if there was a way to make custom video game levels. Somebody directed me to Lunar Magic, which led me to finding out about Super Demo World, SMW Central, and whatnot, and I basically fell in love with the idea of making my own Mario levels. I'd always enjoyed games with built-in level editors even before that; I remember having made over 500 levels in Cubis, over 700 in Dynomite, and several custom scenarios in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. (Two of those are still viable to this day, though sadly, the Dynomite level editor seems to have vanished into oblivion.) I've dabbled in hacking other games as well, mostly Yoshi's Island and New Super Mario Bros. (DS), but it seems like most other editors tend to be primitive, obtuse, not compatible with my computer, or too limiting for the kinds of hacks that I'd want to make.

I'd like to see a revamp of Mega Man X6 (probably X5, too). I know there's a QoL patch for it, but it doesn't change the level design much, nor does it localize the Mavericks' names or add English voice acting. Adding a save system to a lot of games that don't have one would also be good. And I'd like to see Crash Bandicoot hacking become more viable. Maybe someone could revamp Wrath of Cortex to have better levels and loading times. I'm also always up for more GOOD Super Mario World hacks, but what I'd really like to see is more hacks that are ambitious but accessible. I don't need more Kaizo or even just plain difficult hacks, and I don't need more vanilla or "choconilla" ones; I'd just like to see something with nice graphics and music and reasonable difficulty that feels like Nintendo would have made it, maybe like if they'd made a direct sequel to Super Mario World circa 1994 after having more experience with the SNES.

I'm looking for an Eastern/oriental tileset, like the one in world 4 of Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, but there seem to be very few of those compared to more common themes. I've checked SMW Central, MFGG, and Spriters' Resource and haven't really found anything suitable. I was wondering if anyone here would have some suggestions. Bonus points if it has a similar style to Super Mario All-Stars, especially SMB3.
