Chrono Trigger (PS1) with emulator enhancements to cut the load times to almost nothing (3x disc speed, 3x seek speed in DuckStation), with RetroAchievements.

If it weren't for the load times, it'd probably be the definitive "SNES-style" version. I own it physically though, because it's the cheapest physical CT copy you can get still. It's a little easier to handle on a PS2 with Fast Disc Speed mode if playing physically.

Chrono Trigger on DS has all the extra content and anime cutscenes with none of the load time.

If I was replaying Chrono Trigger now, I would probably play the original SNES version with Romhacks: MSU1 for CD quality audiotracks, added FMV sequences and some bugfixes. Possibly a modern re-translation and some additional content. However I don't know if a complete package like this is possible, where all Romhacks and mods are compatible.

I actually finally played an finished FF6 last Sunday, last boss was kinda easy imo, but I like being an unstoppable force, so.... Yeah.
I played FF4 Ultima, again and got up to ???????? but I still haven't done it.
Im currently playing nothing, actually. Im waiting for an FF6 hack called Final Fantasy VI Reimagined, it's supposed to be like an FF6 Remake but on the SNES, it's being developed, but they have released an new beta some time ago, so I recommend all you FF6 lovers ro check it out :D
Maybe I could go for Super Mario RPG, because it has Mario.

Some of the stuff you can do in that game is hilariously busted. Fixed Dice/Valiant Knife + Offering, X-Magic Ultima + Quick, Flame Shield Merton, Ragnarok/Illumina, and espers giving you stat boosts per levelup are among just a few things. Even without all of that, though, wasn't that difficult. (If anything I found his third phase more difficult than Kefka himself)

I can't wait for that. I am also looking into the Sound Restoration patch for FFVI GBA, as to me, if it wasn't for the butchered soundtrack the GBA version has, FFVI GBA would be the definitive way to play FFVI.

Also, I always recommend you to play and complete Super Mario RPG. It's an experience you don't want to miss out on.

As for me, currently sitting on what to play. I'm playing Langrisser Mobile, but other than that, I might go do a Final Fantasy VI World's Collide run. It's been a while since I've done that, and I feel like being OP again, lol. Gotta hope for an early Ragnarok or something.

What do I even say about this match? This was ridiculous.

Eight straight wins in the dealer seat, which would have counted as a local Yakuman if it wasn't ranked. Absolutely peak humor (and incredible).

DO IT. I have been playing it on cart on a GBA SP with an IPS screen and the experience is bar-none the best FF6 playthrough I've had. The colors also match the SNES. Just don't play it on a stock GBA though since it will be really dark.

Hit me up in Langrisser Mobile if you want less stamina team-runs in secret realm dailies too. I've got all Dragons, Anikis, bonding realms and training schools clear. I'm Oz74 on Mira Port. My Altina is #2, but once I got those last 2 squares lit up on Thor for more HP, she's gonna be #1. (I also have the #1 Lester even though he's an R and seemingly a joke to invest in but he was my best boi in Der Langrisser so I'm gonna show the man respect.)

I swear, you can't script this if you tried.

I just finished a FFVI Worlds Collide randomizer. I wasn't even trying to dumpster dive through seeds just to get an early Ragnarok run. I just happened to have accidently ran into one on the first seed I played today. Incredibly hilarious.

If I still had a GBA, or a DS Lite that hasn't broken down from old age, I definitely would look into getting a GBA flash cart. Sadly, I have neither, so I can only... plunder the seas, to play this, for now.

Absolutely will. I usually get on around one of 2 different time points. 3-5pm EST and 3-5am EST. Sometimes I get on around both times, book-ending my day. If I get on during the day, I have the energy to churn through story-related content and other things. If during the night, I'm probably sweeping my dailies because I'm closing in on the time I'm usually heading to sleep. So if there's anything we can do, let me know.

Sure. I saved some of my characters for 3-5PM for Guild War sweep if you wanna join me and I'll get you 5k medals to cash in for materials to enhance your heroes. It's fresh so every tower is open and you'll get all the rewards that way when I close the GW, but I've only got Nightmare unlocked since my guild is really small. If you've found a home in a bigger guild with Catastrophe, I completely understand (usually those ones are really hardcore and too demanding for my own schedule though, so this is my niche.) I'll pitch you an invite if I see you online. We can auto-run while you're idle too since my characters can carry secret realm, and it'll save you burgers for the stuff that you'd want to delegate in like when we get new events, e.g. we actually have another crossover in ~2 months and they haven't rerun any from CS3 onward so I don't have high expectations that we get another chance at any limited characters other than LLRs/Wettham/Apotheosis/Awakened One anymore. The Imelda alt LLR Sovereign of the Ice Abyss should be coming back soon if they stick to the CN schedule too, and she is extremely powerful.

When I'm back at work, I'll typically be on in your AM hours for 1h instead since my lunch break usually falls there, but this week and next, I'm open in your PM hours.

Just started on a FFV Career Day FJF chaos randomizer. My party setup seems like it might have potential. Neo Exdeath might be a problem, though. Gonna have to hope I luck into a Magic Lamp along the way.

I should really do one again. I think I have the vids from the 2014 FJF that I did for the Super Famicom but I don't know if I've re-uploaded them yet. I probably should, at some point.

I made 2nd. Pulled off a hell of a hand to do it, too.

EDIT:

And then I get 2nd in 3P the night after. I was close on both but I wasn't getting the luck I needed until the last two days.

Only...a lot of Dans to go.

Man this looks fun. Last time I played an emulated fighting game with a netplay client was probably 15 years ago or so, but it was a different client. Need to set Fightcade up, its even available on Linux now.

Edit: I gave up on this again. Forgot I already have an account and tried Fightcade before, but gave up because how the Roms and files are structured. Maybe I'll try it again sometime.

Let me guess: You tried to make it work out of the box and think you need to get a torrent somewhere for 'additional content'?

Look up FC2 JSON pack for Fightcade. It will do the rest for about 99% of the games on there. Those update accordingly over time so you might want to check back on them every few months.

No (I'm actually doing emulation for 2 decades), its that I have a full fbneo romset and can't use it the way I want it without duplication of Roms. Bios files in a separate directory (for use in RetroArch) and Fightcade does not allow me to set a different bios directory for fbneo. So a simple symbolic link to the fbneo Roms directory doesn't work here for me. I've looked into the config structure and couldn't find a setting to change bios directory.

So this is an entirely me issue, because I want to do it an a very certain way.

Gooootcha. I had similar years ago when I was setting up under FC1.

Eventually, I just ended up moving the set to another location entirely and putting the setup above in a separate instance. May have a few duplicate games here and there from those I use but it thankfully doesn't get all of the games from the set to do it either.

Uh, do we have rules here on the boards about not linking to or encouraging pirated materials? Something like FC2 is inevitability going to lead to piracy anyways ("Ah yes, let me just manually dump the ROMs of my own Third Strike cabnit, so I can stay legally legit!"), but it was my understanding putting ROM links in a json was primarily about putting the need to obtain ROMs on the user to keep FC from being liable, and said json is kept at least a bit hush hush? That is to say, I don't think putting that in the open on this forum is the best look (but TBH I don't care lol, I just assumed NeoRHDN would take a "No Piracy Please" rule / stance for CYA purposes).

MOD NOTE: Originally contained a link to "FC2 JSON pack"

I was also under this assumption. I'm a bit surprised that FBC is designed like this, for easy feed of repositories. Its super useful, but little bit flaky if you ask me. RetroArch also has this downloading of a few Roms, but these are fixed links you cannot change and free games only for testing. So it doesn't encourage people to pirate Third Strike. Although... you know the drill. :D

Maybe there should be a rule in this forum how to handle topics like this, given how important it is. So in example I know exactly what's allowed to post for myself.

I don't see a link to ROMs in my post either.

And we're on a site that represents the grey area anyways with ROM hacking and emulation.

So long as you're not directly linking to something that can get you into major legal trouble directly, you'll probably be fine. Or at least that's been the long-standing argument on forums like these for quite some time but I'll leave it up to the people in charge to say otherwise and ping them about it since you're worried.

EDIT: Talked to NinCollin, edited for compliance. Though that also means you'll need to modify your own post Yuri, ironically.
