I've been playing around with Yoshifanatic1's disassembly of the game and got a save system working. You can pick one of three save files and the game will automatically be saved on the password screen. You can also delete a file to start from the beginning.
It turns out the game has SRAM detection built-in as an anti-piracy measure and will eventually start randomizing your input and have you fall through the floor if it was detected. This has also been patched out. Download https://romhackplaza.org/romhacks/mega-man-7-save-support-snes/

Sneaky, sneaky Capcom.
If this can work with hacks like MM7 Refit, it would be pretty amazing. |
