...Trials of Mana - High Tension Wire

I don't know where I can find a video for this...

I knew what it was before I even listened to it back before it got the Trials moniker but I got you:

Oh, I meant the FFVI-ified version of the song. But yes, that song is an absolute banger.

Oooooooops. My bad. Yea, I suppose linking an SPC player would probably be the only way to do something like that, in that respect.

I wasn't listening to anything, actually, but there's an guy that I like that makes cool remixes of games music in an "Neo-SNES" style.

There's also Seiken Densetsu 3

Whoops, I forgot to mark it as an YouTube video at first, sowwy 🤭

Don't you just hate when you have to figure out which version of seven in any given game to pick? It's not like modern day where they're all the same.

Speaking of modern, this. Even if you're not a fan of RPGs, in general, Octopath is so fucking good for its OST.

I follow this guy's work. He has some truly masterful stuff on his channel. My personal favorite being FFVIII - Maybe I'm A Lion.

As for me, well...

It's been a while since I've wanted to listen to Kingdom Hearts music, but that came up quite recently. I specifically searched for an SNES variant, too, and I was pleasantly surprised here.

This may really be one of those games that you just had to be there for to be any sort of appealing. Modern day would probably shun everything that this game stands for. I got my ass beat way too much by it, never truly beat it, and was frustrated to hell and back over it...and still loved the concept of it and especially the music, for how simple it was.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for 3DS. I never played this game before and just found out about this song. This song is amazing to me.

Follows the usual Tim Follin curse of 'great soundtrack, questionable game'.

You know what would be cool? A YouTube playlist with these tracks. The playlist name could be called "Neo Romhacking.net Soundtrack".^^

Not a bad idea, but it'll ultimately be up to whoever makes it to keep it up to date. It also won't ever be "complete", since at least one thing that has been linked already is an SPC file that needs a dedicated player. Maybe I'll do it later.

EDIT: haha 69

Yeah, that's a bit more involved than just adding to a playlist. Would require converting and uploading. Or it would be left out and later a "Director's Cut" could be introduced. ;-p

You'd have to have something like Winamp or Foobar around for the conversion and then upload some sort of base file to YT to make it work. It's doable but I'm not sure if it'd really be worth the edit more than just a text file would do and, by that standpoint, it already exists with this thread. :P

I just learned we can collaborate on YouTube playlists with other users, by inviting them. For now I will add those tracks to a private playlist and automate download conversion to audio files with yt-dlp. :-). Maybe I'll share, but the problem is that I cannot guarantee long term support (as I'm not the biggest Google fan at all).
