NeoRHDN - Utilities - Utility Information

ID666 Tag Editor
Sound
Description
There are two versions of the utility in this archive. The x86 package is for a Mac with an Intel chip. The PPC version is for a Mac with PowerPC chip.

To use the ID666 Tag Editor, you simply need a Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

The ID666 Editor is a program that allows you to edit the ID666 Tags within SPC files (SNES SPC700 music dumps). Simply put, the ID666 Tags are bits of information about the SPC file, such as the name of the song and who wrote it.

Here is an introduction to the format for those wishing to use this program.

ID666 is the name of the tagging format used in SPC files. Each ID666 Tag allows for a certain amount of data. For example, there are only 16 characters allowed for the Dumped By field, while the Song Title field allows for 32 characters. To allow for longer lengths of data, there is the Extended Data section. Extended Data allows for longer data to be entered.

The ID666 Tags are the official tag set for SPC files, whereas Extended Data was added on to the SPC format later. Therefore, not all programs will utilize the Extended Data. This is why you see the Song Length field on the ID666 Data tab in the editor and the Intro Length, Loop Length, End Length, and Loop Count fields in the Extended Data tab. Programs that do not utilize the Extended Data format will ignore the Intro Length, etc. data and simply use the Song Length data.
