NeoRHDN - Utilities - Utility Information

Breath of Fire Editor
Game Specific
Description
Editor for Breath of Fire 1 (SNES) lets you edit lots of stuff in the game, and you can then patch the changes into your ROM.

Updated to version 2.4 (5/2/2024): Can now edit how often random battles occur inside, added a new Fishing section with options like Never lose your bait, Fish anywhere, and select which type of fish you want to catch. Also added more new Game Genie codes (in the zip file).

Updated to version 2.3 (4/26/2024): Adding editing for all Item and Weapon shops in the game (can edit what's for sale as well as the cost multiplier for each shop), fixed some typos for Bleu, added better instructions when turning the extended spells option On or Off, added some new misc options including random battle stuff (frequency of random battles and turning random battles On/Off for indoor or outdoor battles), in-game debug stuff (including walking faster, save game anywhere, enter or exit battles at any time, change battles at any time, etc), walk thru walls (credit goes to Helder), use Gobi's spells in or out of water (credit goes to chillyfreeze), as well as several new Game Genie codes for those who want to be able to turn most of these options On or Off during gameplay. With the in-game debug stuff, you have the option to turn it all on, or just turn on individual features.

Updated to version 2.2 (4/17/2024): Added editing for individual treasure chests, added options to turn off repetitive messages you get when clicking on names, fixed a bug where changing spells learned for Nina or Bleu might make it so their spell learned messages would show up at the wrong level, fixed a bug on the Enemy/Boss page where changing the Drop rate percentage and then clicking on a different enemy wouldn't always show the correct percentage, fixed a bug by removing "PET" from the list of enemies since I don't think he was used in the game. Many thanks to Landy for providing a massive amount of BoF1 technical information, including letting me know about the spell learned message bug and how to fix it.

Updated to version 2.1 (4/3/2024): Improved the extended magic spell section including extra spells for Ox and Gobi, giving extra spells to Gobi will also allow him to use his spells out of water, fixed a bug from version 2.0 where some extra magic spells didn't show AP cost when browsing spells outside of battle, added treasure chest editing including an option to let you open chests as many times as you want.

Features:

* Can edit starting stats for all the characters (HP, AP, Strength, etc).

* Can edit stats for any enemy or boss (HP, AP, ATK, DEF, etc).

* Can also edit enemy/boss drop rates, which items they drop, and how much Exp and Gold you'll get from them.

* Can edit stats for any weapon or armor, including attack/defense power, weight, if a weapon is 1 or 2 handed, cost, who can equip, and if weapons target one or all enemies.

* Can edit lots of magic stuff, including: AP cost for any spell, level learned for most spells, amount of HP restored for Cura spells, amount of damage caused for any of the spells that cause damage (AKA "Black Magic"), amount of stat boost for all of the stat boost spells (ATK-Up, Lk-Up, etc), and editing for which spells some of the characters learn.

* An option to extend how many spells some characters can learn. Bo, Nina, and Bleu can normally learn 7, 23, and 31 spells respectively. If you enable this option, they can learn up to 33 spells each.

* Any changes made with the editor to which spells characters learn will take affect at any point in the game, even if the character has already learned all their spells. In other words, if you don't like some spells that a character has, you can easily change them in the editor.

* Editor will show you actual ROM addresses for most things that it finds.

* When patching, you can decide if you want it to create a new ROM or not. This keeps your original ROM safe.

* Will be updating in the future with sections for treasure chests, shops, random battles, etc.

This editor was made and tested using the USA version with a CRC32 of C788B696, but will also work on some, if not all SNES hacked/translated versions of the game (including the War of the Goddess ROM hack on RHDN (ver 1.06)). Will also work on headered or unheadered versions (with or without the 0x200 byte ROM header).

This editor is an improved version of an older BoF editor: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1765/
