Description |
Tile mixer is a tool that joins and separates files, one byte from each one at a time. This is essential if you want to hack arcade games, as the data is usually shared in two files (this way the data was being read from two ROM chips together). If you want to edit the data, you need to combine pairs or ROM files to individual, unified files.
Except from separating and joining the files, Tile mixer can put the edited ROM files in a ZIP file and also run an external command (like a DOS command to start the game in MAME). In fact, the three functions (separation, creation of ZIP file and starting the game in MAME) can be done with one button. This way, you edit the file and just press one button to test it :-)
Of course you can change the order of the ROM files (which wasn't possible in v.1.0).
For no particular reason, Tile mixer comes in 56 languages.
V.1.0 was released on 23/12/2004 and v.2.0 on 31/10/2022 ;-) |
