NeoRHDN - Utilities - Utility Information

YMX2SYX
Sound
Description
This tool converts YMX banks to Yamaha SysEx banks compatible with Yamaha DX11, DX21, DX27, DX27S, DX100, and TX81Z synthesizers. This means that all the voices (a.k.a. instruments) used in various Sega Genesis games can be imported to the aforementioned synthesizers with incredibly accurate results.

A video has been posted on YouTube showing the results of a conversion done on a YMX file containing voices from Sonic the Hedgehog's "Spring Yard Zone".

Java will need to be installed to run YMX2SYX (version 8 will work; version 7 hasn't been verified at this time). Use the "Readme.txt" file for detailed instructions on how to do YMX conversions. Once the SYX file is generated, a MIDI interface can be used to transfer the data over to the synthesizer.
