NeoRHDN - Utilities - Utility Information

Arabic Script Convertor
Hex Editors
Description
A tool used to convert raw Arabic text to text using letters more compatible with hex editors, with an option to generate directly hex data to copy to your favorite hex editor.

It's not really a full-fledged hex editor in the sense that it doesn't edit files directly, but this issue should be adressed in a future yet-to-be released special Hex Editor that supports direct Arabic input with formatting on the fly. Even then this tool won't be obsoleted since it will be still needed for converting large pre-made scripts.

Arabic characters are encoded with two bytes, and require special rendering software that supports and processes RTL text and ligatures. It goes without saying that older software (i.e. games) is almost always incompatible with said requirements, which is the bane of everyone attempting a translation to that language (officially released Arabic localizations are no exception).

It is then with extreme pride and joy that we present to fellow Arabic translators a tool to process the raw Arabic script and convert it to a gibberish English/Japanese script (or hex values for ones that prefer so) that, when inserted and coupled with a font that replaces Latin/Hiragana letters with Arabic glyphs (you could take a look in the Font section of RHDN), appears in the game magically as Arabic text with correct formatting.

This tool supports line-wrapping, games with LTR text, and those ASM-hacked to be with RTL text, as well as DTE, and to a limited extent (TBL files are supposed to use values with one or two bytes only in the current build). You can also import and export Arabic scripts, or the converted script whether gibberish or hex data, as txt files.

You still need to have a program that edit accdb Access 2007 files (MDB Viewer Plus is a good free alternative to MS Office 2007). You shouldn't require anything else to run this tool.

Provided you are proficient with the language -which you should if you’re interested in using this tool at all, its menus are all in Arabic, by the way- you could take a look at the help file for in-depth awkwardly-written tutorials, a key shortcut list, and a revision log, up to the current build (3.0, Oct.10 2014)

Included also are contact info for anyone interested in helping out in Arabic fan-translations. … Excuse my poor English.
