Game Description |
This is a cyberpunk RPG set in Hong Kong after the year 2000. As far as I can understand, Hong Kong suffered a disastrous biological accident, leaving the city in ruins and creating many mutants that now attack any humans they find.
The game plays a bit like Phantasy Star IV; you walk around in the city, and I managed to get into a fight with some unknown soldiers who were trying to abduct a girl that was with my character. As usual, the language barrier got in the way. If you have a decent MSX emulator [or a real system], you'll be able to listen to some great tunes, which reminded me of many other Cyberpunk games like Shadowrun on the Genesis.

Translation Description |
Due to the translation being released in pre-patched format, we at the Whirlpool have opted for posting IPS patches instead. Please do not redistribute these patches; if you can, use the files available at the translation site instead.
Anyway, this translation is very well done, but due to the fact that both the hacker and the translator are not native English speakers, the dialogue is very, very weird. It's understandable for the most part, until they start spouting random names. That's not their fault, that's the game's script, but still...
You'll need a very fast MSX 2/2+/TR emulator to run this game; according to the translation authors, at least a 7mhz MSX system is needed to run it properly... which explains why my playthrough was very slow and skippy. Hooray for fast-forward keys! Anyway, a new font has been hacked in and many graphics have been changed from their native Japanese. So while the game is very well hacked, it still has a lot to go before it's really finished.
Only the first six disks (out of eight total) are translated. Make sure that you use the TOSEC DSK images available on the internet. Other files may give errors. |
