Game Description |
BS Super Mario USA is the game that we knew as Super Mario Bros. 2, released on the Japan-only BS Satellaview system. You know, the system that let you download and play games only on certain dates and times? Well, the game is just like Super Mario Bros. 2 on Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, except there's no music (probably an emulation issue), and there are hidden statues in the game. There are four known dumps, and each dump goes through one world and a final boss. Oh yeah, there's a score, too! And it seems like characters speak to you, but you can't hear or read anything for some reason. And you can only use Mario.
But the games are just as fun as the original.

Translation Description |
This patch translates what little text that shows up on the games, which is when you can change the control scheme or when you check the status in-between levels. The patch was originally tested to work on BS Mario 1 by KingMike, but I've tested it on all four roms and it works perfectly.
*2011 Update*
With the advances on Broadcast Satellaview emulation, modern emus have updated the way BS-X games emulated and thus, renders this patch basically unusable.
On the latest ZSNES, the game can't be played. On SNES9X and SNESGT, the text is all scrambled.
Also, the credits and results screen are not translated. Probably because when this patch was made, no emulator had the ability to display the time correctly in live Satellaview games and thus, you couldn't reach the ending. |
