Ishin no Arashi is a Rekoeition game set in Japan during the Bakumatsu era. Between the years 1650 to 1842, Japan was mostly closed to the outside world and its influence. But one day, an American Fleet (referred as "Black Ships" in Japan) led by commodore Matthew C. Perry arrived in the country and asked to re-open borders for trading. Following this event, Japan was divided into 3 major schools of thought: Sonno-Joi (support the Emperor), Kogi-Yoron (public council) and Sabaku (support the Shogunate).
In this game, the player controls a dignitary and must influence other dignitaries to persuade them. The goal of the game is to convert all of Japan's clans to the player's own ideology. To this end, he can freely roam Japan and talk to anyone he meets to influence them, provided his rank allows it. He may also gamble, study martial arts or philosophy, dig for gold, buy and sell wares or visit various shops (doctor, inn, restaurant...). It's one of those early open-world games, although a bit repetitive.
The translation is around ~70% complete, but should be playable. |
