Game Description |
This is my favorite game ever. Seriously. My love for this game amuses my roommates to no end. This was actually first released on the PC-Engine CD system, and was then ported to Playstation, and then the Super Famicom, and then Gameboy Color. Course, it's kinda hard to translate CD games, and the GBC ports weren't all that great, so it's this version that gets the most translation attention. Which is kind of a shame. I want voices dammit!
Anyways, this is arguably the first dating simulator, or at least the first of its kind. Most dating sims before Tokimeki Memorial ended when you got into the girl's pants. No point in playing after that, right? Tokimeki Memorial doesn't involve nudity or anything dirty like that (aside from "omg you can almost see her outline in the shower but not really"). No, this game focuses on love. The goal is to get one of twelve girls to fall hopelessly in love with you by the time high school ends. You can't just say the right things either, oh no! You have to work on your statistics. If you want to impress the stuck-up snob girlie, you have to raise your Appearance to crazy high levels. If you want to go after the annoying art lover who uses all these stupid English phrases, yet people still like her for some bizarre reason, you'll have to... oh wait, she's essentially mandatory. So have fun with that.

Translation Description |
In 2009, someone with the username of "Mijae" began creating an English patch for Tokimeki Memorial for the SNES. She released a patch that translated the HUD into English, as well as some commonly-appearing strings of text. This makes the game a bit easier for non-Japanese speakers to understand. This is version 0.1 of the patch, the only version ever released. |
