Translation Description |
This patch translates Alex Kidd in Miracle World for Sega Master System from English to Spanish. Two versions of this patch are included in this .zip. One translates the European/American/Brazilian cartridge version in English language; the other translates the European/American BIOS version.
It includes all the special symbols and characters of Spanish language, like the "Ñ" letter, in uppercase letters. The "PUSH START BUTTON" in the title screen and the "GAME OVER" messages have also been translated.
Created by Rod Mérida, from Crackowia group, this translation carefully respects the editorial form of the original version, keeping all the texts in uppercase letters, not changing the original font style (as other translations of poor quality unfortunately do) and respecting the quotation mark symbols, "", in those places where in the original they appear. One characteristic of the original English version is the use of such quotation marks for referring to the name of specific places or key concepts that are unique of the game, where normally a capital letter, or italic font style would have been used in proper English; this is obviously a remnant of the original Japanese texts, presumably due to a too literal translation, but its part of the form and charm of the original game and this patch keeps it, as an editorial peculiarity. All the texts are translated to an elegant and proper Spanish by, at the same time, remaining as close as possible to the original sense and structure that each paragraph had in English, in a measured
balance among editorial respect and style. expressions like "STONE HEAD", "SCISSORS HEAD" or "PAPER HEAD" that don't seem to make much sense in daily life neither in English or Spanish, have been literally translated to "CABEZA DE PIEDRA", "CABEZA DE TIJERAS" and "CABEZA DE PAPEL" because it's exactly the concept that it wants to transmit in the original, and the most grammatically proper way to say it in Spanish even though it results to be somehow surrealistic. That matches anyway with the super-deformed aesthetics of the game.
This patch must be applied to a 128KB ROM, with either a CRC32 checksum of AED9AAC4 for the cartridge version, or a CRC32 checksum of CF4A09EA for the BIOS version. In both cases, it will produce a checksum fixed version in Spanish language that will work in real hardware or emulators that use the European/American Master System II original BIOS with no problem, avoiding thus any kind of "SOFTWARE ERROR" issue. |
