Game Description |
You know how Bomberman goes: place bombs to blow up blocks and moving enemies, place the bombs just right to win. Hudson thought this system could also thrive in a turn-based strategy system one day, and it's pretty good. You control a team of Bombermen, each with a different ability. You place bombs like in a normal game, and they go off after a certain amount of turns. Make sure to stay out of enemy bombs as well as your own! It's really entertaining if not a little frustrating sometimes, definitely worth a look if you're into the original formula.
It's just a shame this one didn't make it outside of Japan. It's pretty obscure because of that.

Translation Description |
Bomberman Wars is a turn-based strategy game. Each player controls a set of Bombermen, moving them around the board and placing bombs to trap and blow each other up. There’s really nothing quite like it, and unfortunately, the game was never released outside of Japan.
Plasma Captain figured that a lot of people who don’t know any Japanese were afraid to try it because it is menu-based. Thus, in 2009, they translated some text from Bomberman Wars and posted it at Bomberman Board. Lacking romhacking skills, they waited and hoped for someone able to do the hack in PSX.
Fortunately, in 2015, Denim started to study R3000 ASM and he chose Bomberman Wars for his first work. As he didn’t know Japanese, he searched for a translation over internet. Luckily he found Plasma’s text. |
