This is one of the best freeware games I've played. The sentiment is echoed all over the world, as well. Think of the game as Metroid, except you're not a chick wearing armor but a guy wearing normal clothes. Confused yet?
You play the part of a nameless person who is off in a quest to help out a race of creatures named Mimigas, which are being kidnapped by an evil doctor who... well... you'll see.
Unlike many other adventure games, Cave Story is heavily story driven. And the game is long. Very, very long. And full of secrets! You'll have a great time trying to find everything. And trying to unlock the three endings.

This patch was made to preserve the translation that can be commonly found on the web.
The history of this translation is quite complicated. When the game was introduced and gained an immediate popularity, someone decided to translate it by himself. His work eventually saw the light in July 2008, but it was far from a complete translation because it was based on English version (must be Aeon Genesis's) and he created some dialogues that wasn't in the original. Some people weren't satisfied with it so under Pixel's permission, they took up the work and match the texts to Japanese version while localizing the graphics. The very final version came out after two years which covers all graphics, all dialogues, config, and even included manual.
