I've started a video series about how to use the Lazy Shell editor for Super Mario RPG. The plan is to create a new video every week, time permitting. I've got the first few videos up now.
Super Mario RPG romhacking is fairly niche these days so I hope my fellow SMRPG fans find these videos useful, wherever you guys might be.

Here's the playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2oB74dpc8tkUgSvkEY0Y0zOmm702nJAR

Super Mario RPG romhacking, I feel, has slowly started to come into its own lately. I remember there was a time where in terms of romhacking, there was SMRPG Armageddon and basically just Armageddon. I'm glad there's been more and more romhacks that have since been completed, and I hope there's more to follow.

If this were 10 years ago, I probably would have actually tried to make a romhack of SMRPG with this type of knowledge. Won't stop me from dabbling with this now though, but I probably won't invest enough time into this to make a full fledged romhack. I have very little of that free time as it is. But I look forward to seeing more soon.

It would be great if Super Mario RPG romhacking could enter a renaissance of sorts. I'm sure most of the people who were around during the early days of Lazy Shell when everything was new an exciting are much like me: a bit older now when free time is harder to come by. That makes romhacking difficult since it's so involved.

Releasing my romhack a few months ago has made me nostalgic for an era long gone by. I'm trying to breathe a bit of new life into the SMRPG romhacking scene by drawing attention to my hack while also creating this tutorial video series, but sometimes I fear I'm just shouting into the void.

We might be witnessing one, if not now, then soon. You've just released your romhack recently, and Will just completed Super Luigi RPG Star Powered romhack just recently as well, and that one is a total revelation. I really feel like Super Mario RPG hasn't really had a breakout hack that started a revolution like some of the other hacking scenes, but we might just be witnessing one now. Let's just hope more comes out of this.

very cool that there are tutorials for this, I had a cursory interest in SMRPG rom hacking 7-8 years ago but then never really looked quite into it, and honestly probably won't soon (due to other things I am fascinated with right now) but if that game ever peaks my interest again I can imagine I'd tinker with it a bit. and I hope the community grows!

Oh, wow. That might actually be something I take a look into at some point just out of a curiosity, if nothing else.

Also, as an aside, I loved Super Koopa RPG. Got that on the SNES Classic at the office and that is quite a popular title with a couple coworkers.

Glad to hear you like it! Sounds like a fun place to work if you have coworkers you can talk to about stuff like this. My office only likes talking about hockey scores and spreadsheets.
