Description |
This is La Fin Du Tour, the first ROM hack attempted for WCW/nWo World Tour. There is no specific concept to this hack, although some might construe this as a WWF New Generation hack, but that's probably a misnomer. This serves as a showcase of the research that went into World Tour after the release of SUMMIT, achieving the following:
- Backporting of animations (just one — Austin's taunt)
- Creation of new movesets
- Changing of bio information (e.g. names, weights, heights)
- Resurrection of body types that are currently locked away, which would later become available in VPW64 (e.g. Rickson Gracie's MMA body type)
- Resurrection of characters that are currently buried in World Tour that would later appear in VPW64
- Movement of characters between stables, which has a knock-on effect on the League Challenge mode
- Creation of new costumes via manipulation of costume data and importing of new textures and polygons
- New portraits drawn for new roster members in the style of the original game
The following is the list of character replacements:
- Shawn Michaels replaces Eric Bischoff
- Stone Cold replaces Buff Bagwell
- Undertaker replaces Scott Norton
- Bret Hart replaces Tiger Jeet Singh
- Ken Shamrock replaces Chris Benoit
- Andre the Giant replaces Fake Sting
- Rickson Gracie replaces Shunji Takano
- Dr. Death 'replaces' Koji Kitao (this is a reskin; Kitao already used Dr. Death's moveset)
Further details on changes can be found in the README.
This hack would not be possible without freem, who provided the foundation via documentation, as well as the means to modify the AKI games: VPW Studio. It would also not be possible without Melonbread, who served as a research partner and helped with identifying intricacies within the moveset format that would allow moves like submissions to operate correctly. A special thanks to SK Stylez for their enthusiasm and moral support during the development of the ROM hack. |
