NeoRHDN - Hacks - Hack Information

FF II (over heal fix)
Hack of Final Fantasy II
Description
This ASM hack aims to solve a problem with healing the player's health and magic points in Final Fantasy II. Due to the original programming of the game, the game never checks to see if you are at full health or not before using items such as Cure, Ether, Elixir. Thus allowing the player to waste their items over healing their characters.

With the patch applied, now the game will check to see if your character is at full
health/full magic before using the item and will not use the item if the player is already at max HP or MP.

If anyone wants to improve upon the patch they may do so. Possible improvements are: making an error sound when trying to increase a player's health/magic when its already at max. There are also other items that could use the same treatment such as Tent, Cabin, ect.

This patch is a must have for anyone playing Final Fantasy II. It is a quality of life
patch and it only benefits the game play experience.

In Final Fantasy III (FF6 Japan) these issues were fixed as you are not allowed to over heal your character thus wasting your own items, but the original Final Fantasy II did not have this feature, thus why this patch was made.
