Description |
This patch themes the Super Game Boy 2 with a look inspired by music and visuals associated with vaporwave and closely related genres. To the author's knowledge, it is the first major graphics hack of any kind for any version of the Super Game Boy.
The patch comes with a fairly elaborate PDF readme/manual. The PDF includes important info, tips, & some subtle Easter eggs, and should be considered a part of the experience.
What the patch changes:
-User interface colors and graphics are changed.
-Most borders are new. All others are modified.
-All in-game color palettes for monochrome games are new. Most colors were sampled directly from vaporwave artwork or design templates.
-The automatic game detection list is modified. More games are supported (the list is almost full now). Game versions from NA and EU regions have priority, in that order.
Note: Games that provide their own SGB enhancements will mostly be unaffected by the use of this patch. They'll still work fine, but their enhancements will usually override any of these customizations. This means you'll get the most impact when using this with games that are NOT Super Game Boy enhanced. It also means you can use it as your main SGB firmware and not worry about it messing with Donkey Kong, Kirby 2, Mega Man V, etc. (unless you want it to).
This was made primarily (but not exclusively) with the SGB Settings Editor and SGB2 Border Injector tools by blizz:
