Description |
Metroid SUPER-SPEED Zero Mission is a faster version of the original romhack by SB, named Metroid Super Zero Mission. SB brought the GBA's Zero Mission to Super Metroid, but to truly appreciate SB's masterpiece, you had to know how to super-short-charge the Speed Booster. This patch opens the whole of SB's Zebes for players of all skill levels. You will be able to shinespark through all of SB's shortcuts and secret areas that are hidden just about everywhere you can imagine, without having to short charge.
You need to patch a non-headered Super Metroid rom.
The following changes are the hex edits made to the original game:
*1. Samus can build a shinespark faster.
*2. Samus can use the speed booster in Morph Ball form (must have Speed Booster and Spring Ball).
*3. Elevators move faster.
*4. After reaching a shinesparking state while still running, Samus can maintain the shinespark while spin jumping left or right utilising the Space Jump item. You also maintain this effect by diagonally jumping back and forth, since Samus can now maintain her momentum after landing from a jump.
*5. Samus does not lose momentum when landing after a jump.
*6. No more item-get jingles, giving you back 7 seconds of your life per item!
*7. Adjusted how many hours it takes to get the different endings; you have more time to get the best ending.
*8. Fixed a scroll pointer mistake in Tourian.
*9. Doors open faster.
*10. Rooms transition faster.
*11. Pause menu loads faster.
*12. Faster transition between Map and Status Screen.
*13. Map scrolls smoothly.
*14. X-Ray Scope is faster.
*15. Changed HUD highlight color to yellow for an easily distinguishable difference from the original romhack's color, which is green.
*16. Made minor edits to various rooms to build a brand-new, hidden route that enables Samus to fully power-up her suit/beam upgrades after defeating only Bomb Torizo and then Botwoon. HINT: Once you get the Grappling Beam, you can go straight to the Speed Booster without even defeating Kraid. And then the game-world is yours for the taking. Can you make it into the Pirate Ship to collect your first power bomb? There is a way! Walljumping is required in this route.
