Description |
As the story goes, the developers behind Battlezone 2000 created a sprawling, complex version of the game, but Atari testers thought it was too hard. Rather than throw away that version, the developers hid it inside the game as an easter egg, accessible only through a series of button presses on the tank configuration menu.
This hack bypasses the need for the button combination (not always easy to pull off) and starts the game immediately on this secret mode - which is an entirely new game, complete with solid models and textures, unlike the original game's wireframe world. As per the original, both modes are distinct; once the secret mode is activated it's not possible to return to the regular game until you reset it.
In addition to changes made to the ROM, this patch includes Harry Dodgson's custom loader, used to get around the Lynx's routine that checks for changes made to the code. The loader is © Harry Dodgson, 2001, for which the author of this patch does not take credit for.
Simply apply the patch to the original game with Lunar IPS. |
