Heavily inspired by Billy Time! Games’ excellent T2 – Arcade Remix hack, this mod puts another spin on the SNES port of the arcade hit, its primary purpose being to redesign the in-game codes to make them as easily memorized as the game’s Genesis counterpart.
Thanks to re-purposing some ASM from his old NBA Jam TE playbook, eskayelle has made the old codes as easy as… a partial Konami Code.
For the level skip feature, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right when the high score screen appears. Press L during the game to end your level.
For a new 500 missile (or shotgun shell) feature (replacing the 9 credits option), at the T2 title screen, press… Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. During the game, press R to give both players a stockpile.
(Fair warning! If you’ve accumulated more than 500 missiles for either player, pressing R will reset both players back to that 500 value. Also, if you accumulate more than 999 missiles, they’ll still be accounted for; you’ll just roll the counter to 000 and beyond.)
The Konami Game also considers the following quality of life improvements for the player:
[li]Gunpower replenishes itself faster (by a factor of 1.5).[/li]
[li]The amount of Cyberdyne equipment required to be destroyed in stage 5 is cut by a third.[/li]
[li]The Resistance’s truck in stage 3 and SWAT van in stage 6 are indestructible.[/li]
[li]Your game is on free play! Credits are unlimited in BOTH 1-player AND 2-player games.[/li]
(Be precise with that final blast to the T-1000. Too soon with the grenade launcher and it won’t connect; you’ll want to time and aim the final shot just right to end the game.)
As well, the high score table has been reverted to match the arcade version.
Hasta la vista, baby!
