Secret of Mana: Equipment Overhaul is an attempt to streamline gameplay and eliminate redundancies in the game's broken equipment system. It accomplishes this in a number of ways.
[list]
[li]It eliminates permanently missable pieces of equipment by adding a few enemies to the game's final dungeon.[/li]
[li]It alters redundant equipment statistically in cases where a weaker piece of gear was released alongside a stronger one.
[li]Shop inventories were altered to release gear in a linear progression according to strength.[/li]
[li]Much of the game's enemy exclusives are now sold by the game's final vendor. Those pieces of equipment were flattened statistically to make them equal in overall power but differentiated with status immunity and ability bonuses to prevent redundancy.[/li]
[li]Each character was given 3 pieces of gear that are dropped exclusively by enemies in the final two dungeons.[/li]
[li]Since Secret of Mana is a multi-player game, monster's now drop treasure at a common rate of 1 in 16 kills and rare treasure has been eliminated. This change was made to discourage gear farming.[/li]
[li] Monster treasure boxes now mostly drop consumable items. There are exceptions in the later parts of the game.[/li]
[li]Finally, Weapon Orbs are now only dropped by enemies from the Grand Palace but only when they appear in the game's final dungeon.[/li]
