Adventure Island Abridged and Speedrun Friendly

About the 80’s version: Adventure Island is a great classic game, but it is admittedly too long for its own good, with repeated stages and a difficulty level that is beyond insane. This is made even worse by the fact that the game has no save or password system.

So what is this hack about? This hack aims to give players a modern way to enjoy the game by cutting a lot of the repeated content and adding a new mode that seeks to fix the unfairness of the original game, while still keeping the option to play the new level sequence the original way. It also features a timer for those who like to speedrun!

Full list of features:

- Instead of the original 32 levels, now there are only 9, one for each type. Levels are unchanged, but have been hand picked. - The hardest versions for each type were selected to keep the challenge while cutting content.
- The score system has been replaced with a much more modern time attack system.
- Automatic continues
- Harder boss (moves faster and shoots more often)
- The ending screen contains your total time, how many pot bonus you’ve collected (can you find all 9?) and if you’ve finished on original or arranged mode
- The ending screen stays forever instead of going back to the title screen
- The camera is positioned for a wider view to the right of the screen, allowing for more reaction time
- Slightly better performance due to getting rid of scores
- Tina’s bikini now properly has a color

Also, now it features two selectable game modes: Original (same old rules, insanely difficult!) and Arranged, which is recommended and has these new features:
- Health is used instead of dying on a single hit (all hazards)
- Always start with the axe after dying
- All hidden eggs are now visible
- Refills health when reaching the boss
- Keeps the hud visible during the boss fight

The new level sequence is as follows:

- Level 1 (old 4-1)
- Level 2 (old 3-2)
- Level 3 (old 7-3)
- Level 4 (old 7-1)
- Level 5 (old 7-2)
- Level 6 (old 8-3)
- Level 7 (old 8-2)
- Level 8 (old 8-1)
- Level 9 (old 8-4) (Boss)

All levels have pot bonus, and finding/getting all of them is an extra challenge.
