Sonic Advance 3 took pages from Knuckles Chaotix of all things to make it unique. You can pick two characters, and you can only control the first one while the second is basically regulated to Tails' duty. However, your second character also imparts some of their moves into your set. For example teams with Cream have homing attacks. Unfortunately there is rarely a special use for these outside of breaking walls, having Tails, or time bonuses. There's no rubber band mechanic here, but you can call your partner to you to team up sort of like Donkey Kong 2... with a lot less use. The speed was also toned down unless you're Sonic. Kind of a "love it hate it" title.
