Game Description |
PlatineDispositif's summer Comiket 72 release. This is a remake of Gundemonium that was made well enough to best its more famous sequel Gundeadligne. These “Gunde” games are essentially horizontal-scrolling bullet hell shooters. In all of the games, you play a dual gun wielding nun known as Eryth Millfall (a.k.a. Fortuner).
Unlike most SHUMPs, Recollection gives a sense of level progression beyond the mere five stages of its main game run. Demonic challenges and the Matrix Orders add a nice feel of gradual linear accomplishment. Unlike so many SHMUPs out there, this game has more than one obvious goal of reaching the end. It's not just about beating the game, it's about nervously defeating the 10th embodiment of the final stage boss time and time again. It's about using strategies beyond just staying in the back calmly dodging bullet patterns. It's about learning to play in both 60 and 30 FPS. Give it enough time and it will be quite apparent why this game bested the far more well-known Mountain of Faith released at the same summer Comiket.
