NeoRHDN - Fonts - Font Information

Arabic Font Pack (Small)
Description
A multi-language 8x8 font pack, that should prove useful to anyone attempting an Arabic fan-translation or hack (or with some modifications, even Persian and Urdu, since they share the same alphabet mostly).

Normally, each Arabic letter has four forms, but here for space reasons (plus there's not really a big difference with this low level of detail) it has only two forms: "initial/medial" and "final/isolated". There are exceptions with letters with a single form, or letters having all their four forms included ("ain" and "ghain" here mostly, though with the right font, using the initial and isolated form to get two forms can be sometimes tolerated, but generally it's ugly).

Some DTE were included since they're NEEDED and heavily used ("a+l", "l+l+h").Also the diacritics were included here, but not the type requiring dakuten, but rather as a separate normal character being a combo of "elongation character+diacritic"/"space+diacritic".

Arab folks use two numeral systems depending on the region (though everyone know both of them): the "Arabic" numbers known and used worldwide -approriately named since Arabs concieved them-, and the Eastern "Hindi" numbers originating from India (Persian uses a variant of these). For convenience, both sets were provided whenever available.

This pack has:
[list]
[li]Lower-case and upper-case thin Latin letters plus partial extended Latin set, Bold Upper-case Latin letters plus numbers, Latin punctuation marks.

[li]Bold Arabic font with partial extended Arabic set (Farsi and Urdu) and diacritics and Arabic punctuation marks but lacking some characters (due to the font being too big, some "hamza" combinations are only possible by exploiting the dakuten), Both Arabic number sets in thin.

[li]Thin hiragana and katakana set, with Japanese punctuation and special symbols. Included here just because we can.

[li]Thin "angled" Arabic font with diacritics, "hamza" variants and Arabic punctuation. Two variants: 8x8 and 6x8.

Source: MS-X Arabic model bios. (A 90° rotated variant, and a 8x12 variant exist, but they're not included here.)[/li]
[li]Thin "rounded" Arabic font, just the bare essentials plus most "hamza" variants. Some DTE (only "a+l" is really essential), Arabic punctuation, various symbols and bold "Hindi" numbers.

[li]Bordered thin Arabic font. It works just as fine if you color the border the same color as the background and in both cases letters still look connected.

To bypass the limitation of the font of some games without having to extend it, the most essential forms were put as the first 26 characters, and the "final" forms of some letters can be re-created as a combination of two parts: "medial" form + "tail". There are two tails.

The rest of the font (to add if there's enough place left) includes the rest of the basic graphs, and proper "final" forms". Also a partial Arabic punctuation and number set.
