This specification fully documents the Capcom Sound Engine 1, Capcom's first in-house NES sound engine, used by their earliest NES games Commando and Trojan, before being shortly superseded by the far more well-known Capcom 2 engine used in games such as Mega Man 2. This specification describes the music and sound effect format used by the engine in sufficient detail to create new music or sound effects and insert them into the games, or to extract and convert music/sound effects from the games.
